McKenzie & Co. team completing the 2018 Waihi Nugget multisport event.
Summer heralds’ different strokes for different folks. Some plan beach holidays, while others get the gas bottle filled and clean out the barbie. For our team at McKenzie and Co., it seems we like to get sweaty.
As a relatively small group of individuals we punch well above our weight when it comes to taking part in sporting activity. Whether a “competer or completer” our team love to give it a go.
Leading by example, our Founding Director, Clayton McKenzie is part of a team cycle race series, with four races already completed and another two to go in the new year. Outside the race series Clayton has his eye on an additional seven cycling events.
Alongside Clayton, our Senior Civil Engineer Mark Melville put his precision skills to the physical test with CrossFit competitions.
Finance Manager, Mathew Boylan, counted every step to the finish line of his first marathon in Queenstown in a little over 4 hours. BOOM!
Senior engineer, Romeo Dela Cruz, has trouble deciding what events to do, so he does them all.
Our McKenzie & Co. Taupo team are top of the sporting pyramid with Mark Taylor and Graham O’Grady both competing in the Taupo 70.3 Ironman event (and smashing it!)
Not one to leave it to the boys, our bright young star, Sarah Kelly, took on her first half marathon with the Walking Stars event in central Auckland.
And Licensed Cadastral Surveyor, Diane Moriarty was left wanting after blitzing her 30km mountain biking event, when she and her young family took on the Taupo Cycle challenge.
On top of all this we have regular Zumba enthusiasts and even a marathon golfer in the mix. What a team.
All these events culminate in the annual McKenzie & Co. pilgrimage to the prestigious multi-sport event, The Waihi Nugget in May 2020. Keep an eye out for the hilarity, mud, sweat and tears from that event in May next year. Lysaght, we’ll see you at the start line.
Here’s a little more insight into just some of our sports-stars…
