McKenzie & Co’s Wellbeing Journey

At McKenzie & Co, we know that our people are our greatest asset. Without them, we wouldn’t be the company we are today. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to put our people at the forefront of everything we do. We believe that by fostering a workplace culture that supports and enables our people to thrive, we can achieve great things together.

Now, don’t get us wrong, we already have a pretty great workplace culture in place. We’re not just saying that to toot our own horn, either. We genuinely believe that things like our monthly team breakfasts, quarterly social events, and annual Christmas getaway are top-notch. But we knew there was more we could do to support our people’s wellbeing, which is why we launched The Great People Programme.

The Great People Programme is our commitment to supporting our people in recharging their batteries, celebrating successes (or as we like to call it, “hunting the good stuff”), and encouraging connections at work. Our goal was to create a program that promotes positive mental health and wellbeing by supporting our individuals to feel good, function well, and to establish meaningful connections with others.

But we didn’t just launch this programme willy-nilly. Oh no. We did our research and worked with the fabulous Kathryn Jackson from Career Balance Ltd. to develop a programme that’s specific to McKenzie & Co. Kathryn taught us about the science of wellbeing, resilience, and self-care. She also taught us the importance of connecting with others and listening, which we think is pretty important.

The feedback we got from our people after Kathryn’s training was overwhelmingly positive. It was great to hear that people were noticing a change in their own behaviours and in the behaviours of their colleagues. We’re so proud to work for a company that prioritises wellbeing and creates an environment that people want to work in.

We’re also excited about the future of The Great People Programme and what it holds. We’re committed to offering regular education and training to promote healthy living and work/life balance for our people with a focus on all aspects of wellbeing: physical, mental, spiritual, social, and intellectual. We’ve got a whole host of events and initiatives planned throughout the year to support these themes, and we couldn’t be more excited.

We know that we’ve only just begun our wellbeing journey, but we’re eager to work together with our people to ensure their wellbeing is at its peak. At McKenzie & Co., we’re more than just a company – we’re a family. And we take care of our own.
