Our people, our engineering expertise

Great projects are shaped by more than technical expertise – they’re strengthened by diverse perspectives, different experiences and people who approach challenges in unique ways. At McKenzie & Co, we believe that bringing together a broad range of skills and thinking helps us deliver better outcomes for our clients and the communities we help create.

This month, we’re celebrating one of those people.

At McKenzie & Co, we’re proud to celebrate the achievements of our people, and we’re thrilled to congratulate Angela Li on becoming a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng).

Achieving CPEng is a significant career milestone, recognising an engineer’s technical competence, professional judgement and commitment to a high standards of engineering practice. It reflects years of experience, continuous learning and dedication to the profession.

A Journey of Growth

Angela has been part of the McKenzie & Co team for the past three and a half years, but her journey towards Chartered status has been much longer.

“I have been working towards my CPEng certification for around six years,” Angela explains. “Since graduating from university, I have been actively building diverse and complex project experience to develop the required technical and professional competencies.”

The pathway to CPEng requires engineers to demonstrate not only technical expertise but also leadership, communication, ethical practice and the ability to deliver sound engineering outcomes across a range of challenging projects.

The Value of Support

Angela credits the support and opportunities at McKenzie & Co as an important part of achieving this milestone.

“McKenzie & Co has played a key role in my CPEng journey. I’ve been fortunate to be involved in a wide range of challenging and rewarding projects, supported by strong technical guidance and mentorship from senior engineers and leaders.”

She also acknowledged the people who have supported her throughout the process, giving a special thank you to James Kitchen, Chris Mellican and Scott Lamason for their encouragement, mentorship and leadership.

“The trust, encouragement and opportunities provided by the team have made a real difference in helping me reach this milestone.”

At McKenzie & Co, we believe investing in our people is one of the best investments we can make. Supporting professional development not only helps our team members achieve their goals but also strengthens the expertise and value we deliver to our clients.

Looking Ahead

With her CPEng certification now achieved, Angela is focused on continuing to grow her career.

“I look forward to continuing to grow within the team by taking on more complex and challenging projects. My focus is to keep strengthening my engineering skills while contributing practical solutions for our clients and supporting the wider team’s success.”

Congratulations, Angela

Congratulations to Angela on this outstanding achievement. Becoming a Chartered Professional Engineer is a testament to her dedication, technical excellence and commitment to continuous improvement.

We’re proud to have Angela as part of the McKenzie & Co team and look forward to seeing her continue to make a positive impact on our clients, projects and the engineering profession.

“Angela’s achievement is a significant milestone, not only for her personally but for McKenzie & Co as a firm. It reflects the kind of technical growth, discipline and professional commitment we want to keep supporting across the business.” said Clayton McKenzie, MD of McKenzie & Co
